Painted Plein Air on a hot summer day in Avignon, France, along the river Rhône. I was with a few friends, doing our best to capture the essence of the city; its light and shadow changing as the sun moved across the sky. This is a print of a pastel painting.
Avignon was the home of seven successive popes between 1309 and 1377 and is one of the few cities with intact ramparts. I plan to visit again next trip to France.
